Sharlene Phillips (BA, APP)
From a young age, Sharlene Phillips was captivated by horses, a lifelong passion guided by elite riders, judges and coaches. Today, she is one of Australia’s most respected equine photographers, renowned for her sharp eye, deep equine knowledge and her ability to capture the unique bond between horse and rider. With over 40 years of experience in film, darkroom and digital photography, she brings unmatched skill, artistry and heart to every image, turning fleeting moments into memories that last a lifetime.
Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts, Sharlene’s creative journey spans drawing, animation, painting, sculpture and photography, and she is an award-winning artist. This depth of creativity, combined with her lifelong connection to horses, gives her work its distinctive authenticity and emotional resonance.
As an accredited Australian Professional Photographer, with certifications including CPS Member, AIPP Accredited Professional Photographer, ABHA Accredited, Equestrian Victoria Accredited and holding Public Liability Insurance, Working With Children Check and an Australian Police Check, she specialises in equine portraiture and equestrian event photography across Victoria and Australia. Her photography captures not just action, but the courage, quiet moments and connections that define horse and rider.
Sharlene has been invited to photograph global equestrian icons including Princess Nathalie of Denmark, George Morris, Lew Sterrett and Her Majesty The Queen’s senior coachman, Philip Barnard Brown. Her work is regularly featured by leading publications, worldwide websites and organisations including Equestrian Australia, Equestrian Victoria, HRCAV, F.E.I, Equitana Australia, Equestrian Life Magazine, The Man From Snowy River Bush Festival, The Weekly Times, Boneo Park, Horse Deals, Herald Sun, The Horse Magazine, The Regional Horse News and many more.
